The Social Action Committee and Beloved Conversations participants are excited to announce that our Sunday service speaker for April 15, 2018 will the Mary Moriarty, Hennepin County Chief Public Defender. The service is titled, “Race and the Criminal Justice System: Are We Awake?"
For two decades Mary has tried many murder and serious felony cases including a number that set important state court precedents. She has acquired a national profile as a gifted courtroom advocate with a talent for training others in the creative, powerful trial skills she uses to secure acquittal after acquittal.
Besides being a core faculty member of Gideon’s Promise and a recipient of the Steven B. Bright Award, Mary is on the public defender trial skills programs in many states. She teaches at the Harvard Law School Trial Advocacy Workshop and the National Criminal Defense College.
