Kripalu Yoga is a rich tradition that uses postures, breath work and meditation practice as a gateway to self compassion. It consists of three stages that are meant to move the practitioner into deeper and deeper states of meditation in motion. Stage one is the Willful Practice in which one practices basic alignment in the yoga asanas (poses). Stage two is Willful Surrender during which one holds poses for longer periods of time and works through the mind’s resistance. Stage three is Meditation in Motion where you learn to let go and allow the body, not the mind, to guide breath and movement. It is this stage that brings the practitioner into a state of ease, fluidity and deep concentration. A pleasure to experience, stage 3 will deepen your understanding of Kripalu Yoga as it accesses more subtle layers of awareness. Come try it out for yourself!
