Wa-Nee School Resource Officer, Kris Hershberger, will be joining Nappanee Public Library for a presentation on “What Parents Need to Know.” Officer Hershberger has been part of the Nappanee Police Department for over five years and is actively involved with all five of the Wa-Nee schools. He will speak on topics such as social media, teenage drug trends, sexting, and other issues he has noticed as the School Resource Officer. Parents/guardians are encouraged to bring children 13 and up.
Officer Hershberger says, “There are a lot of social media apps that are being used today for bad reasons. A lot of times, students don’t even know how bad the apps are, nor do they know the dangers of using them. My goal is the help the parents understand what their children may be going through and give them some tools to help monitor what students are using their phones for.”
Pizza and drinks will be available before the program, while supplies last. Registration is requested but not required. For more information, or to register call 574.773.7919 or visit nappaneelibrary.org.
