If you have ever looked at the numerous historic structures at Fort Caswell and similar sites across the US, and wanted to understand more about how they functioned and the context in which they were built, you won't want to miss this year's symposium.
The Cape Fear History Symposium is an educational event planned for lovers of history at historic Fort Caswell! This year, our theme is "Focus on Forts" and for it we've gathered some of the top speakers and experts in the history of US Coast Defense in the nation. Hear from John Weaver on the brick and mortar Third System of coastal defense, from Quentin Schliare on the Army post buildings where soldiers lived and worked, and from Glen Williford on the more modern, WWI era, Endicott gun batteries here and across the country. In addition there are many other fun sessions focused on forts, an artillery demonstration, amazing food, and a detailed tour of campus led by the experts themselves!
Stay on campus or commute. Registration prices start at just $115!
