In this explorative and dynamic workshop, students will learn about the influence the spine has over many components of our being, from the physical to more subtle energy.
We will examine the continuum of mobility and stability through our central axis. Students will learn about the spine in relation to Ojas, our primal potency; so that on an inner level, we understand spinal mobility and strength as a source of support and nourishment.
We will establish the anatomy of the spine in meaningful terms, anatomically and with descriptive language to demonstrate relationships between the spine and the limbs, and the cascading effect from foundations to the periphery.
The core principles of safe and effective backbends (spinal extension) in relationship to the pelvis, hip joints and lower limbs will be covered. As well as understanding spinal biomechanics for safe and sustainable movement and distributing of load through the spine.
We get one spine. We should learn as much as we can to use it with care.
