Nenagh Arts Centre will host a major gathering on mental health and its impact on the local community on Thursday, April 19. The event, which is being facilitated by the Nenagh branch of the Labour Party, will feature Sen Aodhan O Riordain and Tipperary hurler Niall O'Meara, whose brother Paul died by suicide. Also taking part is local musician and former psychiatric nurse and psychotherapist Sean O'Connor.
The event,Time to Talk, Promoting Positive Mental Health, aims to raise awareness around mental health in the local community and takes place ahead of the annual Darkness into Light national walks on May 12, which this year mark the 10th anniversary of the founding of Pieta House, the self-harm and suicide awareness organisation. The evening will start at 6pm with a walk from the arts centre, returning around 7pm for the main event, which starts at 7.30pm.
The event is free of charge.
