The Museum is pleased to welcome Rhea Higgins, Adjunct Professor of Art History at the University of Hartford, for a special presentation in conjunction with the exhibition American Post-Impressionists: Maurice & Charles Prendergast.

Gain insight into the artistic career of Maurice Prendergast as well as his involvement in the establishment of Post-Impressionism and Modernism in the United States. Higgins will demonstrate how Prendergast adopted and adapted the styles and subject matter of his European contemporaries, such as Paul Cézanne (1839–1906) and artists of the Fauvism and Les Nabis movements, by juxtaposing his works with theirs.

Higgins is a highly regarded professor at University of Hartford whose passion for American and European Post-Impressionism is translated into captivating and informative lectures. She holds a B.A. from Smith College in Northampton, MA, and an M.A. in Teaching from Harvard University in Boston, MA.
