Wanna grow your own food but no clue where to start? Already got the basics down but looking for tips on how to keep a killer garden without relying on pesticides? We've got the workshop for you!

Join Parkway Partners for our April Second Saturday: "Edible Gardening 101" with Erika Nolan, founder of Instar Farms!

In this workshop, Erika will take you through the fundamentals of starting your own edible garden: planting the first seed, building healthy soil, transplanting seedlings, companion planting, dealing with disease and pests organically, and more!

Best part?? We'll be learning all of this at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center's *incredible* Rooftop Garden that Instar Farms planned, built and now maintains for Centerplate! (Access to this space is not usually open to the public, so all the gratitude to Erika for this unique opportunity!)

P.S. No backyard to plant in? No problem. All participants will go home with their very own herb starter- a porch or windowsill is enough. :)

About Erika:

Erika was born and raised in New Orleans. After graduating from Arizona State University with a BA in Psychology, her world travels led her to Ecuadoran Amazon, where she had her first intimate encounter with nature. There, she volunteered at a biological research station, Jatun Sacha, working in the organic gardens and learning about sustainability practices in the rainforest. Later, Erika received her CTS in Horticulture as well as her Landscape Horticulture License.

Instar Farms began as a smaller home business, operating out of 50 s.f. of gardening space. Success at the local Farmer's Markets allowed Erika to purchase a larger property where she could build a bigger farm. Ever since she built her first beds, the business exploded as everyone who saw them fell in love and wanted the same! Erika's love affair with plants has led her to intelligently-designed Landscaping Services, including Design, Installation & Maintenance, all within sustainable fashion.
