About the Keynote Speaker:
Lenni B. Benson is a Professor of Law at New York Law School, past adjunct professor at Columbia University teaching both immigration and refugee law, and is Founder, Director and Senior Advisor of the Safe Passage Project in New York City.

The Safe Passage Project recruits, trains and mentors lawyers and student volunteers willing to represent immigrant youth on a pro bono basis and Prof. Benson teaches a clinic of advanced students who screen immigrant youth at the New York Immigration Court. Prof. Benson has been teaching and writing in the field of immigration law since 1994. She serves on several cities, states, and national taskforce devoted to expanding resources for immigrants, especially unaccompanied migrant children. In addition, she is also an international speaker on immigration topics.

Prof. Benson received the 2018 J. Luce Foundation Candlelight Award at the 18th Annual Gala of the foundation.
