Join us in welcoming the winter solstice at NoDa Yoga!
Just in time for the holidays, this two-hour yin yoga workshop will invite you to slow down, breathe, and nourish the body, mind, and spirit. As the earth grows quiet and still, we too notice our bodies changing with the slow energy of winter - the season of yin. We offer this time of transition as a place to create and find balance between our bodies and the external environment, surrendering to the home within ourselves.
In the winter, we may notice our bodies retreating or feel physically stagnant. In this practice, we will be tapping into the wisdom of the meridian theory and Traditional Chinese Medicine to explore a yin sequence built to harmonize the nervous system and optimize the flow of prana/chi/energy in the body through the Water Element. We will focus on stimulating the kidney and bladder meridians in order to revitalize our depleted energy and bring good health to our organs. In targeting the yin tissues (the fascia, connective tissues, bones, and joints), all poses will be held for a longer period of time in order clear blockages, improve circulation, and replenish our vital energy.
This workshop also honors the spirit of winter through reflection, rest, and reconnection to our inner selves. As we slow down the physical body and listen inward, we practice voicing compassion and surrender to ourselves. Our physical, mental, and spiritual needs are supported, bringing clarity and peace to the new season ahead.
