This is a one day basic navigation course for any sea kayaker going out along our coast for a day or two with an overnight wild camp. Of course for any such venture, you need to plan and that includes weather, tides, tidal streams, landings and launches, camp sites, timings, bail out points and of course your back up plan in case it all goes wrong.

This is not a course that teaches you the intricacies of the movement of the moon and latitude and longitude. It does teach you how to plan your trip with safety and relative comfort in mind and to be aware of your environment and know exactly where you are at all times. This course is for the pragmatic sea kayaker and the programme is run out in a classroom in an informal style with a lot of discussion around scenarios and the old 'what if'!

Having completed this course you should be able to build a picture of the expected weather conditions and how this will affect you on the water, use the tides and tidal flow to your advantage, have your landings and bail out points allocated and have a pragmatic contingency plan should you need to call for assistance.

Please Note: We only open new dates as they are filled so please contact us should you have a specific date/s in mind and if available, we will open your date on the website for booking.
