Join farmer Susan Sides at North Asheville Library for a discussion on giving gardens in Western North Carolina. Sides has worked as a researcher and writer for Mother Earth News and now manages The Lord's Acre Garden, a volunteer-powered donation garden in Fairview. The Lord's Acre holds that "there are many types of hunger. Everyone is hungry for something, and everyone has something to give." They seek to build a diverse, open, multicultural and interfaith community where people are empowered to build their own solutions, and since 2009 they have given away more than 60 tons of fresh produce. Sides will speak about The Lord's Acre and its work as well as Gardens that Give WNC--a regional network of donation gardens.
As always, this event is free and open to the public.
