In Memory of Bob Parker and the many he inspired the North Liberty Fire Department is hosting a blood drive.
The blood drive will be held on Monday, May 7th from 3:30PM to 7:30PM in the North Liberty Fire House. Sign up for an appointment online at www.uihc.org/degowin.
Bob was a member of the North Liberty Fire Department for 45 years, but his ability to respond to calls to assist his community was reduced March of 2012 when he was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. After a four year battle, his service to his community recently ended.
Bob used over 60 units of blood and platelets during his cancer treatment, and to give back, the fire department organizes a blood drive every year to collect at least that amount of blood. Please join the department as they honor Bob’s legacy by donating blood at the blood drive. Walk-ins are welcome but appointments are highly encouraged. All blood collected will benefit patients at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and UI Children’s Hospital.
