Meet at the north end of Church Street, on Riverview Drive.
Participants will enjoy the newly-renovated - by the neighborhood - Bluffs Trail before they hike into the wash and the Woolly Star Preserve area to possibly see the endangered plant, the woolly star.
We have to obtain special permission from County Flood Control District and several other agencies to enter this area. We were able to do this hike last year, and the participants really enjoyed it. We strongly urge hikers to be prepared for a four mile round trip and please to not participate if they are the least bit doubtful about making the trip. If you are not up for the trip into the wash, you will still enjoy the shorter hike along the Bluffs Trail.
Dress weather-appropriate. Long pants are recommended. There is NO SHADE out in the wash, so have sun protection, hat and a large water bottle.
