This fun and intensive field program offers hands-on experience in water resource management through Northland’s Mary Griggs Burke Center for Freshwater Innovation. Northland’s faculty and research interns will train you to use professional water testing equipment, conduct stream discharge measurements, study beach health management, as well as discuss ecological climate change adaptations and watershed restoration.
You will wade inland waters to investigate lake ecology and identify macro invertebrates. Develop leadership, teamwork, and boat safety skills, and learn laboratory safety procedures in Northland’s Applied Research and Environmental Lab.
This event is for students entering grades 10-12. There is a $575 cost to the event and an additional $275 cost for NRS 106 credit. To register go to https://www.northland.edu/event/aquatic-ecology-field-academy/
