NISO Fall Concert: “B is for Bravo!”
Features Douglas Yeo, bass trombone
The Northwest Iowa Symphony Orchestra will open its season, “Symphonic Treasures,” with a concert on Tuesday, November 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium on the campus of Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa.
This fall NISO will perform music by several of the great “B” composers: Beethoven, Brahms, Bartók, Bernstein, and Borodin. Also on the concert is an unusual instrument that starts with the letter “B”: Bass Trombone. The world-famous trombone virtuoso, Douglas Yeo, former bass trombonist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Boston Pops, will join NISO in a riveting performance of the Concerto for Bass Trombone by Eric Ewazen. To top the concert, Dordt Choirs will combine with NISO for Borodin’s stirring Polovetsian Dances. All of these “B”s will add up to “Bravo!”
Advance tickets are available at Evie’s Hallmark in Sioux Center and Jubon Juweelen in Orange City. Tickets may also be purchased at the door the night of the concert. For more information, contact the NISO office at 712-722-6230 or email@example.com.
