The Tech@NYU Fellow Feminist Initiative presents Women in Data Science. Join us for food, drink, and a panel discussion featuring feminist speakers working in the data science field. More details to follow.

The Fellow Feminist Initiative is a new initiative launched within Tech@NYU to promote gender equity in the tech industry. By broadening the dialogue pertaining to matters of diversity and inclusion, we hope to expand opportunities for women and other underrepresented gender expressions in tech, and to help students advance in both an academic and workplace setting. We aim to educate individuals on the challenges presented by stereotypes and implicit biases, and also to inspire them of their potential to make a positive change in the world.

Our first confirmed speaker is Ling Huang. Ling is a Senior Research Scientist at Tumblr working with a Data Science and Analytics Team focused on user interest and user behavior analytics with big data. Ling holds her Ph.D. in Statistics from Iowa State University. At Tumblr, she works on many R&D initiatives connecting millions of diverse social media data by leveraging the latest business trends and data science techniques--including machine learning, data mining and predictive models--to create a holistic user experience.
