Join Oak Cliff Aikikai and Dalton Sessumes of MindWorks for our first workshop and flow jam event! Leviwand classes will be led by instructor Dalton Sessumes.
Leviwand is a flow art / dance that involves a single rod connected to the artist via a thin string. It originated as the “Dancing Cane” trick popularized by David Copperfield in the 1970’s, and has since grown to be so much more than just a great magic trick! The dance utilizes body movement, tension, and geometry.
Intro to Leviwand - the art of all that is leviwand including flow theory, dance integration, illusion fundamentals, and finding your flow. We will then branch out into some less traditional styles like isolations, and basic contact manipulations to keep you flowing through the occasional bumps and flubs! If you're looking for illusion skills, you'd like to add more dance or props to your flow arts repertoire, or you've just started your journey into the flow arts, this class is specifically designed to enhance your understanding of your body, your space, and your prop.
Intro to Long String Leviwand is a breakdown of all things long string leviwand. This means grips, wraps, transitions, presentation, and basic acrobatics will all be covered! We will make our way through various tricks focusing on anchor versatility, ambidextrous practice, and form, and whether you’re an absolute beginner or an expert leviwanderer, there is plenty here for everyone to learn!
Early Bird: $26 for One / $47 for both | Day of Event: $31.50 for one/$52 both | Props provided, no experience required.
