Come celebrate poetry for racial justice story time! This month's story time will be led by Oakland poet and educator, Nancy Johnson James, along with SURJ Bay Area's Youth and Families Committee. We will engage the whole family with poems, stories, activities and art.
Nancy Johnson James believes the world needs artists to envision a free and just future for us all. Let's envision together in community, Saturday, March 31st, from 3-4pm at the Rockridge branch of the Oakland Public Library.
Nancy Johnson James is a poet and educator in Oakland, CA. She attended Sarah Lawrence College and has an MFA from Saint Mary’s College of California. One of the poetic highlights of her life was being a part of the first class of Poetry for the People with June Jordan as an auditing student at UC Berkeley way back in the day.
ADA accessible. There is an elevator on the left when you enter the library that goes up to the second floor where the event will be held in the community room.
The event is best suited for kids ages 2-8, but all are welcome.
