What is Trauma Sensitive Yoga Therapy?

We are all impacted by stress and trauma. PranaYoga's Trauma Sensitive yoga therapy group class is for anyone who has experienced trauma that has impaired their ability to self-regulate and find joy in day to day life and emotions. We can be shaped or paralyzed by life’s challenges, and the impact of traumatic events. Our yoga therapist have been trained in yoga for trauma to be sensitive to people’s trauma and offer holistic yoga therapy adapted to the individual. Holistic yoga therapy holds a framework that asks us to consider the impact of life and traumatic events on our physical, mental and emotional well-being. This class will hold space for care-seekers who have suffered from traumatic events or abuse and abandonment.

What the class experience will be like:

Group check-ing
Somatic Yoga Therapies, which are Body Based Yoga Therapies. This movement includes breath centered movement and the power of choice, as well as present moment experience.
Relaxation and/or meditation
Our goal is to help people feel better or simply feel: to connect with their body, memory, and fear in a safe therapeutic environment of yoga.
