In celebration of Earth Day and the 50th anniversary of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act in 2018, the public is invited to help beautify the shoreline of YOUR scenic river system on Saturday, April 21.
In partnership with the Cumberland Trail State Park, Obed Wild and Scenic River will once again host an annual clean-up and volunteer appreciation potluck lunch beginning at 8:30 a.m. (ET). Participants are asked to meet at the Obed Visitor Center at 208 N. North Maiden Street in Wartburg. Volunteers should bring water, insect repellent, and sunblock and wear sturdy shoes. There will be several work projects that will include trail maintenance on the Cumberland Trail and litter and recyclable collections throughout the park.
As a show of appreciation to the volunteers who donate their time and talents throughout the year, Obed WSR will host a volunteer appreciation potluck lunch. Volunteers are invited to return to Obed Visitor Center at 12 p.m. Burgers, veggie burgers, and drinks will be provided, and everyone is encouraged to bring a dish to share.
