About Natalie Nakase:

This year we are excited to honor Natalie Nakase ('03) with our Alumna of the Year award. Following three impressive years as a starter on the UCLA women's Bruins basketball team, Natalie went on to become the first Asian American to play in the National Women's Basketball League (NWBL). Following two steady seasons playing in the NWBL, Natalie continued to break down barriers for Asian Americans in the sports industry by coaching both men's and women's professional basketball teams abroad. Natalie fulfilled a life long dream of hers when she joined the Los Angeles Clippers in 2012, working with the team's video coordinator. Currently, she is an assistant coach with the Agua Caliente Clippers of the NBA G League. Natalie's upward trajectory and perseverance perfectly personify the UCLA fighting spirit, and we could not be prouder to call her a Bruin!
