DAVID WEST with BOB JONES (AUS)
Perth, Australia's David West has a voracious appetite for aliases, releasing at least two albums a year under the guises or in bands RAT COLUMNS, RANK/XEROX, LIBERATION, LACE CURTAIN as well as under his own name. An inspired songwriter equally likely to reference THE PASTELS as he is NEW ORDER, West's recent work with Bob Jones documents a slanted view of the world, heartbreak taken apart like a game of Operation, never touching the sides, but always quietly revelatory.
MYSTIC ROCK ( their ACTUAL debut gig)
Quite simply, one of the weirdest and best new DIY things you'll hear in this Dogforsaken town. Jack Patton vocalises, approaching his role with the gusto of someone who's just learning to interact with other humans. Like Elf at an early TVPs concert. David Roeder's guitar is cubist and abstract, somehow catchy and full of hooks while sounding like it's falling apart, continually. On drums, Maria Tedemalm is the consumate professional, the only member who knows what they're doing and she's not telling the other two. Glorious.
PERSONALITY TOILET (debut gig)
A brand new formation, on first evidence Personality Toilet actually completely flip the imagery of their name by waxing heartfelt songs featuring a floor-rumbling male baritone and perfect, female-counterpoint. Personality Toilet are the unexpected joy of people discovering what they can do, how they can be, the change they want to see in the world. FFO of music.
TICKET: £6 (shut up, David is travelling from AUSTRALIA it is very far)
