Mary Bilder, Founders Professor of Law at Boston College Law School, will deliver the 2018 Quinlan Lecture at Oklahoma City University School of Law at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 5. The lecture, titled “James Madison and Constitutional Compromise” is free and open to the public.
Most recently, in 2015, Bilder published Madison’s Hand: Revising the Constitutional Convention. This publication was awarded the 2016 Bancroft Prize in American History and Diplomacy, the James Bradford Biography Prize and was a finalist for the George Washington Book Prize. The book delves into the revisions that Madison made towards the notes and how the revisions served to his own interests. It has been commented by many that a work of this caliber would have taken months, even years, to gain an understanding of Madison as a human and his thoughts and personal beliefs. Bilder found in her studies that Madison revised the notes, after leaving them incomplete for several years, to a far greater measure than historians knew previous to this publication.
Come and join us on April 5th and learn more!
