Micro TBM tunnelling has progressively been introduced to the market in 1st world countries since the early 1990’s. South Africa, and Africa as a whole has not had many opportunities to make use of such technology primarily due to cost. In the last decade, however, and particularly in the past couple of years, this type of tunnelling has come to the fore with a number of tunnels which have been constructed using micro tunnelling. Because it is a relatively new method of construction in a South African context there is huge interest locally. A conference with Micro TBM Tunnelling should, therefore, be well received.
The objectives of this conference would be to get SANCOT’s name out there and utilizing this topic for the conference is likely to reach all corners of the civil industry.

SANCOT would like to target local consultants in the civil industry, local utility companies who hold a vested interest as owners, as well as leading contractors and suppliers of this type of machinery on a global scale.
