Auditions for Suite Surrender
Sunday, April 22nd at 2:00 PM and Tuesday, April 24 at 7:00 PM (show runs June 8 - 24, 2018 at Olympia Little Theatre)

Auditions will be held in the Annex building behind the theatre at 1925 Miller Ave, Olympia, WA 98506. Parts available: 4 men and 5 women. Character descriptions are below

Contact the Director, Toni C. Holm 360-951-2380 or tch@Well.com to schedule an audition at another time. Note: No Auditions on Monday Night.

NOTES: Ages are minimum or maximum playing ages and are somewhat negotiable depending on the ages of other players. Actors playing Claudia and Athena should be able to credibly sing a small part of a duet. (The song is unnamed in script, but must be from 1940 or earlier. Unless you have a song in mind, you may be asked to sing Happy Birthday at the audition.)

This is a fun, madcap play, set during WWII; ”…A love note to screwball comedies of the 30’s & 40’S.”

We will have food, laughter, great clothes and as much fun as the audience!

Character Descriptions (4M, 5F)

Bernard Dunlap - male 40+
General manager of the Palm Beach Royale Hotel and Spa. Nervous about the big events… and all the drunken sailors in his hotel, but firmly in charge of the situation…he hopes.

Claudia McFadden - female over 30
Famous for her singing voice, her love of white roses, martinis, and lack of appreciation for her ex-husband and Athena Sinclair

Mr. Pippit - male adult
Claudia's personal secretary and mixer of the perfect martini.

Athena Sinclair - female over 30
Hollywood royalty, she has a strong; appreciation of the male form and loves honeymoons (as evidenced by her 6 ex-husbands). She strongly dislikes white roses and Claudia McFadden.

Murphy Stevens - female under 30
Athena's personal secretary, former aspiring singer, and the woman Francis left behind. Athena wants her to “live a little”, but maybe not too much!

Francis - male under 30.
A bellhop at the Palm Beach Royale. He and Murphy have history. Should be able to mimic playing piano.

Otis - male almost any age
Bellhop at the Palm Beach Royal Hotel, he collects autographs and is a fan!

Mrs. Everette P. Osgood – female, over 40
Wife of one of the owners of the hotel and arranger of this USO shindig. She loves soldiers, sailors and Marines. She had a brief career in the chorus. Her director said she had, “a voice that could make an angel weep.” It wasn't a compliment.

Dora Del Rio - female, any age
Very intrusive gossip columnist. She’s there to get the dirt on the stars and, boy, does she!

The part of Mister Boodles, Athena's dog, will not be played by a live dog.

*****ABOUT THE SHOW*****
It's 1942 and two feuding Hollywood divas descend, entourages in tow, upon the luxurious Palm Beach Royale Hotel for a USO benefit and are somehow assigned to the same suite. Mistaken identities, overblown egos and double entendres abound. Throw in a nosy gossip columnist, a star-struck bellman, two former lovers separated by time, the war and misunderstandings plus a spoiled dog named Mr. Boodles and you have a very. very funny love note to the classic screwball comedies of the 30s and 40s.
