Friday, March 16th, the University of Ottawa Iota Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Phi is excited to announce that it has partnered with Ottawa-region sororities to raise donations for Moon Time Sisters, an organization focused on donating feminine hygiene products to our First Nations sisters located in northern rural communities. We will collect donations all day through donation boxes set up around campus or you can donate by contacting any Alpha Phi!
Nicole White of Saskatoon started this organization after learning of both the high cost and lack of feminine hygiene products in these areas. For example, in Iqaluit a 40-pack of tampons is $14.99, and in Attawapiskat it's $17.89. This issue has caused many girls and women to miss school and/or work, as well as choose between essentials like groceries and feminine hygiene. Although we are mainly looking to collect tampons and pads, any other feminine hygiene products will also be accepted (ex. soap, shampoo, conditioner). We encourage you to reach out to family and friends and get as many people involved as possible!
If you are unable to donate in person, please donate to the Moon Time Sisters fundraising page: https://www.youcaring.com/northerncommunitiesinontario-769961
