Perhaps it’s the growing list of accolades, which these days includes a Juno (Canadian Grammy) nomination, a Canadian Folk Music Award for best Roots Recording, a Galaxie Rising Star Award and a Kerrville New Folk title. Or perhaps it’s the lofty comparisons reviewers have made to Tom Russell and Gordon Lightfoot.
Whatever it is, John Wort Hannam is making music with a newfound confidence these days, and nowhere is it more evident than in his upcoming recording Acres of Elbow Room. “This is a defining moment in Hannam’s career — far and away his best collection of material”.
John has released 6 recordings in 13 years with highlights that include: composing the 2012 Alberta Winter Games official song; composingthe 50th Anniversary song for his alma mater, the University of Lethbridge, playing the 2012 Olympic Summer Games; collaborating with the Calgary Philharmonic; and winning the Kerrville,Texas New Folk Song Competition.
John's Florida tour includes house concerts in the Tampa Bay area and the Listening Room Festival Showcase at the Palladium Theater.
