This very popular group offers an environment where students can socialise in an inclusive environment.
Games such as Minecraft appeal to children on the Autism Spectrum. The games are very visual and students can be creative in a structured way. The game promotes social skills that can be used during interactions with neurotypical peers.
The mentors support the students with their broad knowledge of technology and by coaching the students in social skills.
Parent feedback has demonstrated that this program promotes improvements in:
engagement at school
enhancing positive family life
increasing confidence in engaging in friendships.
increase wellbeing of the student
expanding student social interactions, confidence and motivation levels
The group is limited to ten students to provide both a sensory appropriate environment with a high level of student support.
