Please join us on Saturday, April 28 for our latest Parami Talk with Dr. Sean Turnell, an economic advisor to Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, the State Counsellor of Myanmar. Mr. Turnell will be emphasizing on Myanmar’s financial sector, its banks, monetary arrangements, and the technological advances that promise revolution. Along the way, he hopes to peer through this assured window, revealingly or myopically, into the soul of a nation both transformed and enduring.
Dr. Sean Turnell is an economics professor at Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia. He is one of the leading authorities on the economy of Myanmar. His recent book, “Fiery Dragons: Banks, Moneylenders, and Microfinance in Burma,” examines the financial and monetary history of Myanmar. He received his B.Ec. and Ph.D. from Macquarie University.
