Coffee roasting is not just about turning it from green to brown. There is a lot of science involved, but not without a dash (huge one!) of art.
Learn the theory behind roasting science. Think sugar browning, Malliard reaction, Stryker degradation - technical terms which you will learn and appreciate in a relaxed and fun learning environment. You will then experience hands-on coffee roasting of two kind of coffee beans from different countries, and of course, you get to bring them home to enjoy with your family.
Session is led by Dave, who is an authorised certifer (trainer) with Specialty Coffee Association, and a silver medallist in Australia International Coffee Awards 2017 for roasting coffee.
Class size is kept small at 4 person to allow more hands on. Roasting will be done in group level, with a "lead roaster" and an "assistant roaster" per type of beans, while the two other participants will observe and "guide" them along.
