On the weekend of May 4-6, Jane's Walks will happen all over the world, celebrating and further activating the ideas of writer/ urbanist Jane Jacobs. Jacobs advocated prioritizing the voices of neighborhood residents in urban planning and renewal projects, and successfully fought for the preservation of public spaces and historic neighborhoods in New York City and Toronto.
In Pasadena, we'll walk the streets between 2 transit stations - Lake and Del Mar - checking out new construction and renewal projects. We'll walk through multiple districts, seeing how different parts of the city connect and what those transitions are like. We'll keep our "eyes on the street" (as Jacobs advised) and pay attention to some of the areas we might usually overlook while driving.
These tours are FREE and will be less focused on history and stories, and more interactive. Let's get together and talk about our city - the good and the bad, the future and the past!
Looking forward to seeing you there!
