David McCaskill (guitar and vocals) and Martin Richardson (bass and vocals) have known each other since the dawn of civilisation in the 1970s.
With their nimble hands, opposing thumbs, forward facing eyes and slightly larger brains than mammals of the same size, ‘Primates’, have been playing music together for about the last ten years in the now extinct local band, the ‘Dirty Nails’.
Evolved from the great hairy apes of popular Australian music, ‘Primates’ play a range of classic rock anthems and ballads, including songs by The Church, INXS and Tex Perkins, in a laid-back style suited to the lemurs who frequent the zoo that is the Paynesville Wine bar on a Sunday afternoon.
If you fit into a group of music-loving animals that includes humans, apes and monkeys, you’ll feel right at home with ‘Primates’.
