Karen Clark has over 20 years experience weaving with harakeke (NZ Flax). She attended Te Wananga O Aotearoa to gain her Diploma in Maori Art and over the years she has enjoyed learning and sharing the art of weaving through teaching workshops. Karen has a wealth of talent in creating harakeke art and crafts, from ear rings and kete to wall hangings and kakahu (cloaks).
Join us at Peihana Farm for our special Kono (basket) Weaving Workshop on Friday 11th May from 11am -2 pm where Karen will share her incredible knowledge on weaving – from the spiritual and healing aspects of the plant and art of weaving harakeke, you’ll learn to recognise the best harakeke to use, how to harvest it, how to prepare it and then weave your own kono under Karen’s guidance.
This is a great workshop for individuals, friends or colleagues looking to escape to the country for a few hours and learn an ancient craft. Enjoy a delicious brunch prepared by Maria Lempriere (resident host, gardener and chef) using fresh produce from the farm. Take home the knowledge learned to share and your own woven kono to treasure.
$75pp - for a little bit of country magic and some time out at our peaceful retreat … learning, sharing, laughing and eating. Be in quick to book your seat!
