The Pence Gallery celebrates its 27th Annual Garden Tour on Sunday, May 6, from 12 – 5 PM. This popular community event returns to reveal the beauty of eight private gardens in Davis, which are lusher than ever due to this winter’s rainfall. Several gardens include low water landscaping, and we will have information on gardening from UCCE Master Gardeners of Yolo County, and of course, the garden owners themselves. The Tour can be completed via bike as usual, although this year the homes are spread out more than normal, with three in South Davis, two in central Davis, and three in West Davis.
Whether visitors come via car, bike, or on foot, the Tour this year is sure to amaze. Highlights include the home of landscape designer Tara Watt with wonderful metal art by husband Roger Madison. Other special areas not to miss include a G gauge railway that circles a waterfall, more than 50 dwarf trees, multiple bridges, and an exhaustive succulent garden.
During the event, talk with painters Marlene Lee, Janet Crittenden, Anne Lincoln, Nancy LaBerge Muren, Hannah Klaus Hunter, Linda Clark Johnson, and Naomi Bautista as they create colorful landscape paintings in the gardens. At the Pence Gallery visitors can bid on restaurant certificates, spa services, vacation rentals, and lovely gift items from 12-5 PM in our Silent Auction. Freshly baked cookies, lemonade, and other treats will be available for ticket holders at this site. Street parking is free downtown.
