Wendy Orr Author will join us to share her approach to history writing.

Wendy Orr is a talented Canadian-born Australian writer. Her books for children and adults have been published in 27 countries and won awards around the world. She is probably best-known for her Nim’s Island series, and she's well respected for her thorough research, and well-crafted manuscripts. She's one talented writer and we're delighted to be hosting her.

Wendy's last book 'Dragonfly Song' was a wonderful blend of verse and prose, set in Bronze Age Crete and inspired by the mythology of the time.

If you’re interested in writing historical fiction, Wendy will take you on a helpful meander through the pathways of working with history as a source for stories. History has always been a rich source of stories; memorable characters, events and settings; and how a sense of time and place can captivate a reader.

We'll be hearing about what drew her to historical research, how we can write with confidence about historical periods, particularly in other countries, and tips for writers undertaking history research and writing.

Wendy has traversed many an historic pathway and is unstoppable on the writing front. Her latest book is currently in its final editing stage and we're sure she will share some nuggets about its process as well.

Wendy Orr is also our Patron of Peninsula Writers Club.
