Robbie Rice Gries - Dare to Be Different: Pioneering Women in Petroleum Geology

Join us on Tuesday, April 24th, as we welcome Robbie Rice Gries, President of Priority Oil & Gas, LLC and author of Anomalies: Pioneering Women in Petroleum Geology 1917-2017. With her “dare to be different” philosophy and pioneering spirit, Robbie Gries was the first woman to graduate with a degree in geology from Colorado State University, to become AAPG President, and president of the Geological Society of America.

The first women in petroleum geology were employed in the field in 1917, early in the history of oil exploration. Women became subsurface geologists at a time when the tools of the trade were rocks (no electric logs, no seismic, no paleontology) and surface surveying equipment. Listen as Gries shares her story and the story of many others who revolutionized the role of women in petroleum geology.

Free event with limited seating.
