Milk kefir is a fermented milk drink that originated in the Caucases Mountains made with kefir grains, a mix of lactic acid bacterias and yeasts. As lactose, the sugar in milk, is broken down by these cultures this probiotic, yogurt like drink is great for lactose intolerant folks. Water kefir is very similar in preparation to Milk, but with water and sugar instead. With slightly different needs in regards to care, Water kefir yields a nice light probiotic drink that is slightly carbonated.
