WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?
This workshop is about learning the art of balancing on one leg, either in a static hold for an extended period of time or while moving from one single leg standing balance posture into another and into another sequentially.
WHY SHOULD YOU TAKE THIS WORKSHOP?
This will be a great opportunity to learn the mechanical aspects and anatomical aspects of standing on one leg at time, engaging the proper group of muscles to sustain any given standing balance posture as well as to incorporate necessary bandhas (body locks) and ujjayi (warrior) breath and visamavritti (irregular breath manipulation) techniques. We will practice and weave together various complex and simple standing balance postures to ensure stability and sustainability. Drishti (point of gaze) will be employed here as well as learning to stand on one leg with the eyes closed as a learning tool to focus on an internal point of gaze.
DURING THIS WORKSHOP YOU WILL LEARN:
• The body mechanics of standing on one leg
• Practice body alignment while in a standing balance posture
• How to modify and adapt standing balance postures comfortably
• How to engage the right muscle groups
• How to maintain sustainability and stability of the legs and core
If you are a registered 200 Hour Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance, this workshop is offered as Continuing Education Units. Please inform the instructor that you are an RYT, so that she may be able to upload your information to the YA system for credit.
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT COLETTE MARIE:
Colette is longtime teacher and practitioner of yoga, originally from Los Angeles, but has been teaching across the Northeast Coast and Southeast Coast, such as Stamford, Connecticut, New York City, Atlanta, and St. Pete, Florida. She is a Yoga Teacher Trainer, Personal Trainer, Continuing Education Provider through the Yoga Alliance and a published author of "Memoirs of an Unconventional Yogi" available on Amazon.com.
