About the Instructor: Angela Vargas is a 200-hour Certified Yoga Instructor, Social Worker, Emotional Wellness Educator, founder of Brown Girl Breathing, all-around creative and a proud daughter of Salvadoran Immigrants. She believes in the power of our breath, building compassionate communication with our minds and bodies, and creating accessibility to all healing tools for pathways for personal and community healing. She was one of the first youth participants of PYFC where she was able to grow her passion for community building, social justice and creating intentional spaces. Yoga became part of her personal practice as way of self healing and self care when managing the stressors of work, exposure to trauma and the struggles of injustice, inequities and violence against brown and black communities. Yoga became a safe haven but also became another space of battle to feel seen and represented. Angela felt a need to bring her lense, her passion and body to the world of yoga to invite more social consciousness, intersectional representation and accessibility to the healing community. She hopes that yoga continues to grow as a tool to support herself and her community in the journey of self love and liberation.
