ABOUT THE COURSES:
Advanced Improv 1 — Continues to build on all you've learned in our Intermediate program, but more critical feedback will push your improv and acting skills further than ever. Classes will focus on creating and maintaining realistic and meaningful connections that fuel strong scene work. Your class ensemble will also work to polish their live performances by working on stage presence, show pacing, and editing.
This class will include two performances. Dates TBD.
In order to qualify for Advanced 1, you must have completed our Intermediate Program within the last six months and participate in an improv audition.
Course Fee: $165

Masters Class — A culmination of the skills you have developed through the Planet Ant Training Center (or other training center program) experience. Over the eight-week course, participants will work with Detroit Improv institution Margaret Edwartowski to develop a unique improvised show form, and then debut the finished product for a six-week run during the Comedy Slice Block Party! Planet Ant Thursdays, Live at Ant Hall*
The show will take whatever form you, as a group along with your director, want it to take. During the last two weeks of class, you will perform "preview" shows during the Comedy Slice Block Party show to tweak and perfect the show before its official debut the week after the course ends.
In order to qualify for the Masters program, you must have graduated from our training center, or another improv program offered at another theater. You must also participate in an improv audition.
*Course ends June 23 and is followed by a six-week run at Comedy Slice Block Party
Course Fee: $220

The Ant Process — A handpicked cast of improvisers will be taken through 3 months of Planet Ant's traditional "Process" where they will create an original comedy show. The process begins with the director guiding the cast in improvising for material. The following weeks will be spent writing and molding that material into one cohesive story. Once the show is complete the cast will each receive a portion of the revenue generated by the performances*.
Any student may audition for the The Process as long as they have knowledge of advanced improv techniques.
*Show Runs Fri + Sat | July 27 — August 11
Course Fee: 3 payments of $150 (students will also be paid out-the-door for each performance)
