June Session: Training Class available at the Planet Dog Store!

Canine Core Method Training Classes: Working With Your Dog's Prey Drive with Leah Shamos Twitchell of Canine Movement Lab.

All dogs can be part of a successful and social team if you tap into their primal desire to: Hunt and Connect. Using their prey drive, you will create a lasting bond with your dog that not only heals old wounds, but creates new channels for social behavior. From this foundation we “teach” the dog obedience. However, obedience doesn’t come from following commands, it comes from the dog feeling in sync with his/her handler.

Upcoming dates for Canine Core Method Training Classes:
Tuesdays starting June 5th, 7:00-8:00pm with Leah Twitchell
This is a 5-week class with a total cost of $120 per 5-week session.

We recommend having the following equipment:

-Cloth slip lead or martingale-style collar (so the dog cannot back-slip his collar)
-Harness (not a no-pull harness, just a regular walking harness)
-Bait pouch for food, something with a large mouth you can easily reach into
-Four-foot leash, since we will be working around other dogs
-Kibble for training sessions, small bite kibble works best (I recommend Fromm) plus a chewy training treat mixed in.

About Leah:

Leah Twitchell has been studying different styles of dog-training since 2010, with a special focus on drive-training which takes a holistic approach to the dog's emotional and physical well-being. She is one of the co-founders and developers of Canine Core Method, an educational platform for owners to connect and learn about their dog's natural drive. Leah believes that by working with your dog's inborn prey-drive, you can form a deep and lasting bond with your dog that will translate into a harmonious and mutually-beneficial relationship.

She established her dog training business, Canine Movement Lab, in 2013 and currently offers private training and consultation in the Greater Portland Area. Her holistic approach to drive-training allows her to work with dogs who are reactive and fearful, or outwardly aggressive. Leah continues to study with world-renowned trainers in order to hone her skills, and she is very excited to offer her Canine Core Foundations class exclusively at Planet Dog.
