Robert Leonard is the news director for the radio stations KNIA/KRLS in Iowa. He's drawn national attention for several opinion pieces published in the New York Times (below) on the Republican brand in rural America and the challenges for our Democratic Party. He recently predicted the negative effects of the Trump tariffs and trade war on Iowa.

Matt Russell farms with his husband Patrick Standley in Marion County. They own and operate Coyote Run Farm growing and selling beef, eggs, and produce through direct marketing. Matt is a fifth generation Iowa farmer and has worked professionally doing faith work and community organizing. He served 8 years on the USDA Iowa Farm Service Agency state committee under both the Obama and Trump administrations.

He'll join us to discuss how Democrats can earn back rural voters. While Polk County doesn't have as many farms as many other counties in Iowa, we do have a disproportionate share of organizers, donors, and leaders in the Democratic Party. We hope to reset an overdue conversation on winning back a large segment of Iowa voters.
