After Rosa, Before #MeToo: Panel on Black Women's Anti-Rape Organizing
The public caught onto the history of Rosa Parks’ anti-rape organizing but their knowledge of the ways in which Black women have resisted sexual violence stops there. In effort to expand the conversation around #MeToo and Black women, panelists will share stories of anti-rape organizing efforts in Chicago and beyond.
Black women have never been silent. Black women have always resisted. Join us in bringing forth voices and stories that aren’t often heard.
Featuring Mary Scott-Boria, Rachel Caïdor, Mariame Kaba, and Vickie Sides. Moderated by Keisa Reynolds of the UIC Women's Leadership & Resource Center.
This conversation is part of programs accompanying the Take Back the Fight: Resisting Sexual Violence From the Ground Up exhibition at Pop Up Just Art Gallery. Exhibition runs April 5 - May 15. Gallery is wheelchair accessible. Additional information at wlrc.uic.edu-take-back-the-fight.
