Students learn how ancient cultures from the American continent are inspired by nature to make their own instruments and to create music! In this program Gerardo Calderon talks about the instruments and the history of pre-Columbian music, and the post-Columbian music influence from other cultures in Latin America. He demonstrates instruments such as clay flutes, butterfly cocoons, the charango, zampoñas (panflutes), and water drums. Participants are given the opportunity to try some instruments and closely understand the way these beautiful instruments work. This workshop is designed for musical and none musical participants.
