The Villanova Wildcats are returning to Allentown for a special night of basketball presented by KeyBank.
For the second time in program history, the Wildcats will venture 54 miles north from campus to host a regular season contest in downtown Allentown at PPL Center. Villanova men’s basketball will square off in the Lehigh Valley against Lafayette on Friday, November 17 as part of a doubleheader with the Villanova women's basketball team who will tip off against Lehigh University. Game times and television information will be released at a later date.
The Wildcats hosted Lehigh at PPL Center on November 14, 2014, posting a 77-66 victory in the first college basketball game played in the arena, which opened in 2014. The game served as a homecoming for then senior guard Darrun Hilliard, a native of nearby Bethlehem, Pa.
The Villanova men were 32-4 in 2016-17, earning the BIG EAST regular season and postseason tournament titles. The Villanova women finished 20-15 and advanced to the semifinals of the WNIT.
The Villanova men’s squad will play all of its 2017-18 regular season games away from campus as the renovation of the Finneran Pavilion, which began in May, continues. The Villanova women’s team will play its home games in the Jake Nevin Field House. The complete 2017-18 schedules for both Villanova basketball teams are expected to be released in September.
