Come join Prime Digital Academy’s Instructors as they discuss HTML and CSS, the building blocks for what is seen on the Web. In this course, we will introduce the main concepts of the Web, how it is seen, and then use that knowledge to build our first website(s). Our target attendees for this event, are people who are curious about creating content for the internet, but are not really sure where to get started. Additionally, know we get people from all types of background attending the event. We thrive when we have a room full of people from diverse backgrounds and skill sets, so know you are welcome here.
Leaving our session, you will:
-Have a fundamental understanding of how the web serves content for users to view,
-Be able to assemble HTML code, so that your website has content,
-Give your website some flair through Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), which gives web content strong visual presence,
-Learn about version control and hosting, so that your work is not only remotely saved and stored, but also viewable from any computer connected to the internet.
For the best possible experience, please consider bringing and completing the following:
-Bring a laptop that is capable of connecting to the Internet via WiFi,
-We will be using a free account with GitHub, hop over to their site at https://github.com/ From there, create an account by clicking on the ‘Signup’ button in the upper righthand corner.
-While not the focus on the entire evening, we will be breaking out for a little bit of collaborative work, make sure to bring just a dash of your people skills. We also find that people learn best while getting a chance to discuss topics while we teach them. Your questions are welcome here, and as a result, we know you will get a lot out of the event.

-Discussion and demonstration of GitHub, our tool of choice for the evening to create, save, and share our webpages,
-Discussion and demonstration of HTML and coding content for the web,
-Discussion and demonstration of CSS and giving our webpages visual flair,
-Wrap up with where to go next and what resources are available to you.
**Please note: There are a few options for parking. We are connected via skyway to both Gateway and Haaf Ramps. Street parking is also a great option. Also, if you arrive at Prime after 6pm the front doors are locked. You will need to contact Prime at 952-222-8108 to enter.
