Learning Objectives:

Clinicians will:
1. Learn about the neurochemistry of the brain and how addiction interacts with endogenous homeostatic processes
2. Explore the current state of the opioid crisis in America
3. Discuss holistic-oriented therapeutic methods to assist clients in responding to the challenges of chronic pain

About the Facilitator:
Sharon Lutman, RN and LMFT
Sharon’s specialty is the treatment of substance abuse, and she has worked at the O’Connor Hospital Treatment Center with both primary patients and their families. Sharon believes strongly in the Process Model, assisting individuals to grow in their knowledge of themselves and providing a safe environment in which to discover blocks to their health and growth. She has trained and worked at PTI since 1990, was a past facilitator of the WE CARE Health Professional Support Group for nursing professionals, and has been an educator for 30 years regarding the neurochemistry of addiction.

CE units for mental health and nursing professionals provided. PTI is an approved continuing education provider through CAMFT, and facilitator is an approved CE provider under the California Registered Nursing Board (CCAPP #4S-98-390-0818).
