Sweet and savory Liege-style Belgian waffles are back at Proclamation Ale Company this Friday! Our savory special will be poutine waffles with a Proclamation Pallet Fortress shallot gravy.
What's a Liege Waffle (lee-ehj)? It is a dough based, yeast-risen waffle; it's full of buttery goodness and more similar to a brioche dough. There are pearl sugars mixed into the dough that, when the waffle is cooked, caramelize on the outside of the waffle. The waffle is dense and chewy, yet still fluffy from the yeast. Trust us, these ain't yo mama's waffles!
Just like in Belgium, these waffles pair perfectly with delicious beer, and are eaten any time of day or night. Do as the Belgians do tonight!
