Join the IOP as we welcome former U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations Zalmay Khalilzad. Before taking office in 2007, Dr. Khalilzad previously served as U.S. Ambassador to Iraq, U.S. Ambassador to Afghanistan, and U.S. Special Envoy to Afghanistan. He will discuss his time in the Bush Administration, the relationship between the United States and Iraq, and the current state of global affairs.

Copies of Dr. Khalilzad’s book, The Envoy: From Kabul to the White House, My Journey Through a Turbulent World, will be available for purchase.

This discussion will be moderated by Dr. Robert Pape, Professor of Political Science at UChicago and director of the Chicago Project on Security and Threats.
